first day exploring in brisbane!!  and it was rather...uneventful.  def not what i expected, it doesn't really seem like theres anything really unique/special about the city from what i've seen.  i went around town with jons brother, explored downtown a bit, played a couple games of pool, had a couple drinks...not really anything uniquely brisbane-ey.  there's this massive artificial beach that they built right next to the river that reeks of chlorine, but i guess its better than swimming in the doodoo brown river water.  we took one of the public transportation ferries up and down the river to see the city from a different point of view, which was kinda cool i guess.  anyways...plan for tomorrow is to go solo exploring down to the gold coast.  i checked the surf forecast, which is forecasting some depressingly small surf, but hopefully its better than magicseaweed/surfline says it is.  according to the longrange forecast, snapper is gonna pick up a little later in the week, but still only to about 3-4.  i'm assuming its talking face height and not swell height, since the forecast now says 1-2 and knee high.  oh wells.  better than nothing, it'll be nice to paddle around and get the gills wet.  for the mean time, here's some pics i snapped today while walking around in brisbane

view from the casino terrace...it looked cooler in person haha

artificial beach.  SO CROWDED.  waikiki style

more of the beach, with downtown in the background

kanga scrotums+croc heads+cane toad leather...possibly the grossest idea i've seen while in oz

kanga pelts+croc skin leathers!!

little market thingy by southbank, the beachy place

quick panorama while on the go.  view of downtown from the south bank
